1. How does the net-a-thon work? A net-a-thon uses a secure online payment gateway to raise funds from voluntary donors. Go to www.samoatsunami2009appeal.org and enter the link to the Net-a-Thon. You will be directed to a secure area to enter your credit card details and the amount being donated. When you are ready, Click on the DONATE button. Instead of using a credit card, you can also make a donation from your online account to the Trust account. 3. Is it safe to use my credit card via net-a-thon link? Yes, the site uses secure platforms-DPS.DPS is committed to data security. DPS uses a variety of security technologies and procedures to help protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use or disclosure. For example, DPS stores the personal information you provide in computer servers with limited access that are located in controlled facilities secured by the latest in surveillance and security technology. When DPS transmits sensitive information (such as a credit card numbers) over the Internet, DPS protects it through the use of encryption, such as the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) protocol. Credit card details stored on site are encrypted using 168bit 3DES encryption. DPS is also certified PCI-DSS compliant. It’s up to you. We suggest any amount from one dollar upwards. 5. How long will the net-a-thon run for? The net-a-thon will run for seven days from the official launch on Saturday evening, 7 November 2009 (New Zealand time). Your donation goes to the Samoa Tsunami 2009 Appeal Charitable Trust, which is chaired by Samoa’s Consul General in Auckland, New Zealand. The Trust will give all proceeds to the Government of Samoa to assist with Phase Two – Rebuild Samoa – of the tsunami relief effort. The Trust has already completed Phase One, involving the shipment of urgent relief to Samoa following the recent and devastating tsunami. Visit www.samoatsunami2009appeal.org for updates. Anyone can donate. All you need is a dollar or more, access to the Internet and a credit card. Every dollar counts. Spread the word. Talk to your family and friends (face-to-face, mobile, online, etc…) and refer them to (www.samoatsunami2009appeal.org). Have at least 1,000,000 donations of at least a dollar, from around the world.
